The fight continues, and things are looking more dire with every passing moment. Kai is able to track down the hidden wizards in the trees Kai moves in on the remaining casters and acts like a natural counter to these casters. He is able to dismantle his enemies quite easily. Erik is still in critical condition after being attacked by the Iron Golem, Sali is still defending Erik and taking heavy physical damage in the process.
There seems to be a turning point in the battle as Godrus the ice sorcerer moves forward, he removes a small lodestone and just a pinch of dust, which shatters and like a cloud of dust it begins to swirl around his index finger until it shines with a deep green color. The disintegrate spell smacks into the lower back of the golem and slowly melts away the surface of the iron. However, the golem remains standing. The team gives it there all from here, Jotun ties a small bomb to the end of his arrow and fires it toward the Golem. The bomb detonates and in doing so the golems iron shell glows a bright orange like the sword in a blacksmiths forge.
It seems as though the scuffs and scrapes upon the Golem's body begins to regenerate. Sali in a rage makes an all out physical assault against the Golem. This however, is fruitless as it is barely damaging the thick shell of this construct. With one strike Sali is knocked to the ground and left in a desperate situation. Kai sprints onto the battlefield and standing in front of Sali he charges his ki energy and smashes his fist into the body of the Golem. A heavy vibration rumbles through the Golems body and to everyone's surprise the Golem seems incapable of moving for the time being.
Darby casts a chromatic orb charged with lightning and launches the orb toward the stunned Golem and while it damages the Golem everyone is running near empty on energy. Jotun meanwhile sprints to the unconscious Dragonborn and stabilizes him, and then retreats from the Golems range. Right as Sali awakens Godrus moves into range and pulling a caterpillar cocoon and crushing it in the palm of his hand he casts polymorph on Sali and reshapes him into the form of a great Ape.
Cerulean Swagger now surrounds the Iron Golem, it's gears clanking but the iron shell of its body slowly recovering from its damage with every passing moment and Cerulean Swagger is running out of spell components, and stamina. Once again the Golem stomps on Eric and knocks him back. Now putting him one step closer to his demise. The Golem continues it's rampage
Just then Sakki the Arakocra flies into the battle field in order to distract the Golem, driving his dagger into the top of the Golems collarbone. The golem turns its attention to Sakki and with one stroke knocks him unconscious. This does however give Erik enough time to retreat out of the Golems range and hopefully find a safe place to gather himself and hopefully recover. Kai and Jotun notice in the same moment that from within the Golems tough exterior from inside the damaged point from Godrus's disintigrate spell there are spinning parts on the inside of it's shell. There is hope yet divided amongst the party as Jotun calls out the potential weak point.
The team, after learning about this crucial information, begins to assault the back side of the Golem. Sali is doing what he can to damage it as much as possible by throwing a number of large rocks against the surface of the Golems hide. Godrus drops one more dip of molasses to slow the Golem once more. Harshali and Gandovan enter the battle field. Gandovan drops to Erik and pulls him fifteen feet away from the Golem. Godrus begins shooting shards of ice to try and keep the Golem's attention steadily on himself. This is when Jotun spots the shot. The weak point to finally bring this metallic behemoth to it's knees. Jotun draws an arrow back and with a simple release the arrow soars through the damaged hide and smashes into the spinning gears of this Golem. The damage sustained causes a chain reaction.
The interior of the construct twist and bend and until the golem can barely move any part of its body. I collapses onto the ground with a massive clang, a cloud of dust filling the space around them. Erik is however still in danger of dying, The group rushes in to try and keep him from fading. Gandovan and Darby rush in and they work together to keep Eric from bleeding out. They save Erik for today...
The troops of Maywell and Ugend are victorious against the Gilded Skull and return to Droyva with seven prisoners. After regrouping Cerulean Swagger decides to take all but one of the pirates in order to claim a 200GP per pirate bounty. Godrus decides to return to Maywell and after losing so many troops as well as a couple of expensive airships he gives Sali a heartfelt goodbye.
Erik dives beneath the waves and finds some scattered treasure in the sunken vessels from the battle. Meanwhile, the prisoners are brought aboard the Windwaker and the team takes shifts watching the Gilded Skull members. Sali, Darby and Kai head into the brig and begin interrogating the pirates for information. The first pirate refuses to cooperate so Sali finishes him off and being antagonized by the prisoner.
Darby moves on to the next prisoner. The woman named Dasi who is a bit more responsive to questions posed, after Darby begins reading her thoughts he learns what she cares about and what her motivations are. He sees a well-dressed man and a young boy. Both people seem to be important to her. Darby is even able to delve deeper into her mind and although she knows that he is doing this she knows that her life rests in Darby’s hands so what is the point of fighting it.
Darby promises that if she gives them information regarding Gilded Skull and Haiwanyax then he will make certain to get her back to her family. She hesitates but quickly realizes that the Gilded Skull will probably kill her even if she did not give them information. She agrees and tells Darby that she serves under captain Racknaw who was the same captain responsible for both assaults on Droyva over the last few weeks. She also mentions that Lord Captain Haiwanyax resides in a place called the “Shattered Viaduct.” She has never been there but knows that is where the leaders of the Gilded Skull reside.
