SESSION 11: The Iron Fist

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

Erik and Darby continue their assault on the remaining enemy ships using powerful spells. Darby notices that there are two Gilded Skull vessels each are focusing their fire on the incoming airship; however, they are lined up parallel to one another with enough space between to fit one more ship. Darby formulates a plan to deal massive amounts of damage to both of them at once. The Windwaker sails between both ships and unleashed attacks from both sides of the arcane cannons. The ships are critically damaged and the Windwaker sustains almost no damage. On the other hand, a second airship bursts in the air and tumbles down onto the beach below. After, the successful attack, the Windwaker docs along the beach to provide more support.

Sali and Godrus are fighting survivors from the Gilded Skull force along the beach. Each time one of the enemies is felled a strange pendant draped around each one of them begins to glow and they reanimate and then jump back up to keep fighting. Sali and Godrus are struggling to fight off the growing hoard of undead and they hold onto hope that the Windwaker will arrive with reinforcements soon.

Jotun who is still positioned on the clock tower decides that he is wasting his time in this position and regroups with Kai who is currently on the western front where the battle is raging on, and a massive Iron behemoth has begun its march toward Droyva, demolishing everything and everyone in its path.

In the midst of this devastation wrought by this dangerous new foe, Jotun convinces captain Alyren of Maywell to retreat his forces to put some space between themselves and the Iron “Golem.”

Kai and Jotun both retreat from the Iron behemoth in order for Kai to gather Cerulean Swagger together so that they can better strategize in order to take down this new threat. Jotun and the Maywell troops remain in position, waiting for the Golem to reach their location just at the outskirts of Droyva. That is until the sound of incoming forces can be heard engaging further west and far away from the incoming Golem. The Captain makes the call to leave the Maywell special forces with Jotun to defend against the Golem while he takes his remaining troops to support the western front. A halfling named Peter Wayward also the leader of the elite team greets Jotun and the two of them begin to formulate a strategy against the incoming enemies.

They decide to split their forces to better defend Droyva. Jotun and the “Knights of Maywell” remain and await the Golem’s arrival. The Golem arrives but is not alone, a Dark Elf wielding a long spear arrives with more Gilded Skull soldiers at his back. This warrior begins a long drawn out monologue but Jotun immediately tells him

“I don't have anything to say to you. Just shut up and fight.”

The fight ensues and the spear wielder and Jotun begin to battle one on one.

Meanwhile, back on the beach Sali and Godrus are still locked in combat with a growing hoard or undead. The Windwaker docks and begins to reinforce the troops on the beach. Eventually the Droyva defense begins to get the upper hand against the Gilded Skull. Kai is still trying to make his way down towards the beach but is not sure whether he will make it to the beach in time and did not have the time to run all the way down to the beach. So, he pulls a war horn from his pack and blows it. The sound of the horn echoes through the night.

After hearing this plea for reinforcements Erik and Darby discuss what to do from here. Erik pulls out a whistle and throws it to Darby for him to get Sakki’s attention to help relay the message to move toward Kai and Jotun. Darby blows the whistle which unfortunately draws the attention of more zombies on the beach. The undead begin to rush the ship, Erik’s hands fill with divine energy and a lightning strike vaporizes the incoming threat.

Godrus is surrounded on the beach by dozens on undead, a cold front builds up around his hands and he blasts them all away with an explosive blizzard. He dusts himself off and begins to move toward Sali who is locked in combat with a powerful Wight. Godrus slides across the ground and to a halt whilst holding his hand out and casting enlarge on Sali, which doubles his size. Sali begins stomping the undead around him.

After the majority of the zombies are destroyed Godrus drops the enlarge spell on Sali and holding his hand out with arcane power he banishes the Wight to a different plain of existence. After Godrus and Sali destroys the forces on the beach they rally together and begin climbing their way through airship wreckage and up towards the western front. Darby uses clairvoyance and moves an arcane ability to view the battlefield from a distance. Darby and Erik depart from the ship and start making their way up to the center of town. Darby uses some explosives to better clear a path while Erik, who is terrified of fire decides to climb up the rock face instead.

Meanwhile, Jotun is in critical condition. There are powerful mages hiding in the trees who are casting powerful and explosive fire spells, killing Peter Wayward and critically injuring the other Maywell Knights. The Iron Golem is baring down upon Jotun and the Dark Elf approaches with his spear raised high, prepared to finish him off for good. However, Jotun casts zephyr strike on himself and is able to disengage, dodging a devastating attack from the long spear. Jotun puts some distance between himself and the forces of the Gilded Skull and begins firing arrows off again.

In that same area the iron golem is unleashing a torrent of poisonous gas which kills everyone in its path, both defenders of Droyva and Gilded Skull alike. At that point Kai arrives on the scene and with pinpoint accuracy he begins tearing the spear wielder apart, stunning him and beating him senseless, he smashes him into a nearby water fountain which cracks the very foundation of the stone fountain. Kai then lifts the Dark Elf and with all of his might he throws him towards the Iron Golem which skewers and kills the Gilded Skull commander on the top of the Golems head.

Godrus and Sali arrive on the scene and the barbarian attacks the remaining Gilded Skull pirates. Godrus drops a pinch of molasses into the palm of his hand and casts a slow spell upon the Golem. which slows down it's body and causes it to operate at only half capacity. Darby arrives and begins by casting firebolts at the mages hiding in the trees. After which Erik arrives as well, he casts his spiritual guardians massive serpentine-like avatars of his deity Bractave. However, this is just in time for the Golem to drop open a latch underneath it's helmet and unleashing another torrent of poison which hits Godrus and deals a massive amount of damage to Godrus and Erik. Erik is knocked onto the ground and is now in critical condition.

Cerulean Swagger are now in dire straights as (even with the Golem slowed by Godrus) it is far superior in strength and durability to any other foe that they have faced. Sali rushes in and slides to Erik's side, he pulls out a med kit that he found in the Droyvan item shop from previously and he is able to stabilize Erik, just in time for the Golem to make a strike against Sali. The Golem makes a crushing blow against Sali. The majority of Gilded Skull pirates have been felled, the sailing vessels have been nearly destroyed, the ground forces of Maywell and Ugend are still locked in combat, but Cerulean Swagger faces down a monstous danger...
